Sibling Rivalry Ignites: Netflix Unveils High-Octane Trailer for ‘Devil May Cry’ Season 2

The Sons of Sparda are back, and this time, the reunion is going to be bloody. Netflix has officially unleashed the full-length trailer for Devil May Cry Season 2, offering fans their most detailed look yet at the war between worlds. Premiering May 12, 2026, the new season promises to take the sleek, stylized action of the first season and elevate it to a fever pitch.

Continuing the collaboration between showrunner Adi Shankar (Castlevania) and the renowned Studio Mir (The Legend of Korra, X-Men ’97), the eight-episode season centers on a conflict that has defined the Capcom video game franchise for decades: the fated showdown between Dante and his estranged twin brother, Vergil.

A Sibling Reunion from Hell

While Season 1 introduced us to Dante as a debt-ridden, pizza-loving demon hunter, Season 2 dives deep into the trauma that shaped him. The trailer highlights an emotional narrative arc where Dante must confront the “devils” of his childhood and the family he lost in the fire.

The highlight of the trailer is undoubtedly the debut of Vergil. Voiced by Robbie Daymond, Vergil is portrayed as a figure of terrifying restraint. Unlike Dante’s flamboyant gun-and-sword play, Vergil’s presence is clinical and cold, wielding the Yamato with a precision that threatens to tear the fabric of reality apart.

Embracing the “Black Sheep” and Classic Foes

In a surprising move that has the fanbase buzzing, the Season 2 trailer reveals that Adi Shankar is leaning into one of the franchise’s most controversial chapters: Devil May Cry 2. The trailer features a glimpse of Arius, the sorcerer-businessman who served as the main antagonist of the 2002 game.

But Arius isn’t the only threat. The trailer also teases the return of Mundus, the de facto ruler of the Demon Realm. By bringing in villains from across the timeline, the show seems to be crafting a unified “DMC Multiverse” that honors even the less-loved parts of the lore.

“Allergic to Formula”

Adi Shankar hasn’t been shy about his vision for the show. In a statement accompanying the trailer, he emphasized a desire to avoid the “comfort food” trap of many long-running animated series.

“I’m allergic to formula,” Shankar said. “My mission for Season 2 was to capture the feeling of a early 2000s blockbuster film franchise where the audience can’t predict the next turn.”

This unpredictability is evident in the trailer’s visual language—a mix of dark, Gothic horror and neon-soaked hyper-violence that feels right at home in the Devil May Cry universe.

Returning Cast and Crew

The heavy hitters of the voice cast are back to lead the charge:

  • Johnny Yong Bosch as Dante

  • Robbie Daymond as Vergil

  • Scout Taylor-Compton as Lady

  • Tara Strong as Nell Goldstein (featured in a poignant flashback in the trailer)

With Studio Mir handling the animation, fans can expect the 30-minute episodes to be packed with the kind of fluid, high-stakes choreography that made Castlevania a global hit.

The hunt begins May 12, only on Netflix. Are you ready to face your demons?
