Critically Acclaimed Sci-Fi Series ‘Scavengers Reign’ Joining Adult Swim’s Toonami in September
Acclaimed adult animated sci-fi series Scavengers Reign is officially making its linear television debut. Adult Swim announced that the 12-episode series will join its late-night Toonami programming block starting Saturday, September 5, 2026.
The announcement marks a long-awaited homecoming for the critically lauded show, which originally evolved from co-creators Joseph Bennett and Charles Huettner’s 2016 short film Scavengers on Adult Swim before expanding into a full series.
From Max to Netflix—and Now Linear Cable
Created by Bennett and Huettner and produced by Titmouse alongside Green Street Pictures, Scavengers Reign debuted on Max in late 2023 to glowing critical acclaim, earning a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Animated Program.Despite its critical success, the streaming service formerly known as Max canceled the series after its first season in May 2024. The series was subsequently licensed to Netflix in an effort to reach a broader audience and explore potential interest in a second season. The move to Toonami gives the series a dedicated late-night cable broadcast slot alongside Adult Swim’s flagship anime and action-animation programming.
