Aussie-Born Animated Boom Continues With Bento-Princess Pictures Pact
Bento Box Studios is one of the busiest animation studios in the world. The FOX Entertainment owned studio will essentially have an hour to itself starting May 31st on the FOX Network and that doesn’t even factor in the hour the studio already has on Sunday Nights and the recently premiered third season of Paradise PD on Netflix.
The studio has announced an expanded pact with Princess Pictures, in it’s stead will be a new animation studio called Princess Bento Studio which now counts Michael Cusack (Smiling Friends) as part of it’s ranks. The combined effort will help meet the explosive demand for adult animation being delivered all over the world which, hopefully, means new IP. For Princess Pictures, the Film Victoria-owned studio is part of a wider Australian boom in additional adult animation that has resulted in series on Adult Swim, FXX, and even Aussie-local networks that last year so the introduction of the latest entry in Australia’s “answer to South Park”.
There's got to be some kind of twist that's going to happen with this. I don't know if they're setting up an April Fool's joke now or what's going on, but it seems too strange that they'd suddenly reverse on doing a fourth and fifth season after the show was already renewed and they were even just talking about working on those seasons like a couple months ago or something. Or maybe the two episodes yet to release will secretly somehow each be like a "season" in themselves?
