“Yolo: Crystal Fantasy” Producers Sign First-Look Deal With The Producers Of “Bob’s Burgers”
We’ve noted for a while now the explosion of Australian-produced animation. Recent wins for the continent down under include Adult Swim’s Yolo: Crystal Fantasy and Smiling Friends, both of which got sneak peeks on Adult Swim a few weeks ago. The Princess Pictures-produced Yolo: Crystal Fantasy has been ordered to series by Adult Swim and is expected to drop on August 9th, but that’s not the only move the Aussie-producer is making this month.
Bento Box Animation (Bob’s Burgers/Paradise PD) has inked Princess Pictures a first-look deal for future animated series pitches. They have teamed up to locate Aussie-based producers for new intellectual properties that could later be shopped internationally. Bento Box was bought by FOX Entertainment in 2019, so this very well could feed a new pipeline to FOX directly, or for any one of the other platforms Bento Box currently does business with including Adult Swim, Netflix, and Comedy Central.
For Princess Pictures, watch out for a pilot they’ve been shopping for a while called Koala Man, a 30-minute animated series that follows an IT guy who spends his nights as a superhero trying to fight crime. You can read our interview with the producers of Koala Man here.
Hi Ashley, thank you so much for reading and we love the feedback. Note that on that day we had 14th posts go up and only ten posts show on the front page, so it's possible the preview had already been archived by the time you got to it. One recommendation would be to add our RSS feed to your favorite news aggregator service like Feedly, this way you get all of the latest posts!
