FOX Creator Studios Eyes Animated Horror-Comedy Series with New Tom Segura Deal
In a strategic bid to expand its footprint into creator-led intellectual property, the newly formed FOX Creator Studios (FCS) has inked a multi-project partnership with comedian Tom Segura’s YMH Studios. While the deal encompasses a broad slate of content spanning various formats, the most notable highlight for animation fans is the greenlighting of a brand-new horror-comedy animated series.
The project is part of a newly minted initial slate that is moving directly into production. By backing this animated project, FOX is leveraging Segura’s distinctly dark, boundary-pushing comedic sensibilities. While specific plot details and character designs for the upcoming animated show remain under wraps, it is slated to combine the macabre elements of horror with the sharp, irreverent humor that has defined Segura’s stand-up and independent media empire.
For FOX, the development represents a continuation of its legacy as a destination for adult animation, but with a modern, digital-first twist. Launched as a specialized division under FOX Entertainment, FOX Creator Studios is engineered to bypass traditional, lengthy development pipelines. Instead, FCS aims to collaborate directly with established internet creators who come with built-in, fiercely loyal global audiences.
Under the agreement, FCS will leverage its immense scale, production capabilities, and global distribution infrastructure to co-finance and produce the series. Meanwhile, YMH Studios will retain its creator-owned IP framework and tap into its unique direct-to-consumer platforms to release the content, preserving the direct connection Segura has built with his fans.
The horror-comedy animated series will be produced alongside a live-action comedy and a stand-up showcase, signaling a major push by FOX to capitalize on internet-native talent for the next generation of adult-targeted animated content.
