Ugly Americans Producers finally releases statement about cancellation. Hope for a bright future

We reported exclusively quite a while ago that Ugly Americans was canceled by Comedy Central and now the producers have finally released a statement.

Here is the statement as posted on the Facebook page for Ugly Americans this morning following the long confirmed cancellation of the series from Comedy Central:

As you might have gathered by now, Comedy Central did not renew us for a 3rd season. The reason this notice is coming so late is that, in spite of lukewarm ratings, the network did everything in their power to keep the show alive by trying to find outside financing. We came very close but unfortunately some legal technicalities kept any deals from going through.

We are exploring our options, even ones that don’t include traditional TV episodes, such as original web shorts or even a graphic novel. We love this universe and the characters and we want to keep them alive (or undead) for you in any way we can. We the producers would continue to make the show without a paycheck to ourselves, but unfortunately animation and all the aspects of TV production are rather expensive.

We appreciate your steadfast loyalty to our little show. We will continue to update this page with any news we have about Ugly Americans, along with new projects of interest from the writers, producers, animators, and cast.

Yours in Ugliness,
The Producers of Ugly Americans

There you have it folks! Trust us, we definitely want to see Ugly Americans back and yea shorts and a graphic novel sound like a bad ass idea. There are so many great characters to be had in the series and we even had the chance to interview the creator last year before the show embarked on its final run. This isn’t the only big name series to get canceled on Comedy Central, as we heard that Futurama also got canceled. That said, future for the network looks bright for animated comedy as Brickleberry was picked up for a season 2, South Park is coming back, and we have new additions like TripTank and Gajillionaires to look forward to. That said, where do YOU think Ugly Americans should go from here?

UPDATE

Creator Devin Clark also put out a statement and you can see that here.
