Season Review: ‘Family Guy’ Season 14
Family Guy rights its ship, but more needs to be done.
A year ago, Family Guy had rated as one of the lowest ranked animated comedies that we cover. This season, we get an increase of almost TWO FULL POINTS!
Yep, something seems to be happening over at Fuzzy Door Productions where Family Guy seems to be gaining a bit of a resurgence in terms of quality. For starters, I couldn’t help but notice that we didn’t have nearly as many as guest stars this season as we have in years’ past with the show instead using it’s core characters to write jokes for. I’m also loving the increased importance of Cleveland Brown and his family become more focal to the show and I hope this is expanded to showcase more of the characters from The Cleveland Show like Rallo, Junior, and others.
That’s not to say Family Guy is perfect just yet, nor that the show is all the way returned to say seasons four to nine which was certainly the show’s strongest, but I think we’re getting there. Family Guy isn’t getting the overnight ratings like it used to due to the fact that it’s on the most competitive time-slot in television, but that’s not all on the show. FOX deserves blame here, too. Lack of marketing for Family Guy, screwy air-schedules of episodes, and weekends with reruns and specials that are more annoying than helpful. I hope Son of Zorn is a move by FOX to do things different on FOX, and with Cooper Barrett off the schedule, I think Animation Domination is going to return if not next season, the season after…just as it should be.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
