English Dub Review: My Dress-Up Darling “Because I Don’t Intend to Sleep Tonight”

Overview:

Marin tries to convince Juju to join their “Coffin” cosplay group.

Our Take:

We’ve got some big news to cover in this episode that happens because of a sizeable misunderstanding. But first, we have to get into what’s going on with the group and the group cosplay. A lull in the conversation happens, and Akira decides to go take a smoke, and Amane joins her. It wasn’t only me that noticed that Akira didn’t seem to like Marin; Amane caught on as well. I was upset that we didn’t learn why Akira feels the way she does about Marin, but I have a feeling it has something to do with a past friendship or something. I think it will have to be addressed soon since they’re doing a group cosplay.

Now… in order to help most with the group cosplay, Gojo decides to play the game “Coffin”. He goes over to Marin’s house, and it gets pretty late, and the trains aren’t running. He has to stay the night, and he’s a bit uncomfortable about it, but they go to the store to get him some clothes. While there, he gets an idea: if he chugs down energy drinks and stays up all night, he isn’t technically “sleeping over”. Turns out that condoms and energy drinks are on the same aisle in this particular store, and when Marin sees him on that aisle and he says he doesn’t plan on sleeping, you can see how she reaches the conclusion she does. That’s where this episode ends, and I can’t wait to see how they clear this one up.
