English Dub Review: Kaiju No. 8 “Omen”

Overview:

A horde of Kaiju appears all over Tokyo at the same time!

Our Take:

I had completely forgotten that it had been a while since Kafka had spoken to anyone from his squad other than Kikoru and Hoshina. It has been over two months apparently and with him being allowed to have his phone back it makes sense that he would try to reach out. Unfortunately, his poor self-esteem got the better of him and he assumes that his old squadmates all hate him. Thanks to a phone call from Ichikawa and Iharu he was reminded that they’re still friends. Iharu especially let him know that his Kaiju abilities do scare him a bit but ultimately Kafka is the same guy and he used those powers to rescue his teammates.

It’s a good thing he started to pull his head out of his ass because there are some creepy Kaiju starting to crop up. There’s even one that looks like Kikoru with dark hair and it attacked a bunch of people. One was running on the highway but wasn’t attacking people and there’s something weird going on with the Kaiju. But I think Kafka will come through and help put a stop to them. He’ll have some help too because Kikoru is getting her mom’s Kaiju series suit.
