By far the most popular Simpsons game to-date is the last released game with The Simpsons title.  Tapped Out is a freemium city-building mobile game that is commonly updated with holiday themes.  The player is able to develop and plan their own Springfield with buildings and characters from the television series.  The game continues to expand with new quests and unlockable buildings and characters.  Development for the game was headed by long-time show writer, J. Stewart Burns as what he describes as a “labour of love”.  Reception and popularity of the game are high, but there has also been much criticism over the games bugs, crashes, and in-game purchases.  Still, this game is enjoyed by a broad fan base and is due for a massive update soon.
