English Dub Review: Clevatess “Second Trial”

Overview

Alicia faces the fake Milea in the hidden world…

Our Take

Picking up from the previous episode, Alicia finds herself facing another dangerous challenge while uncovering more about the sinister forces at work behind the scenes. Meanwhile, Rathwell continues questioning Vordin’s mysterious motives, while Klen reunites with Luna, who has grown considerably in both intelligence and abilities despite still being only a few months old. The episode also expands on the world’s mysterious past and hints at some major developments on the horizon.

There’s plenty to enjoy here, especially Luna’s return and his adorable interactions with Klen, but the pacing remains a mixed bag. The episode spends a lot of time explaining its twists, abilities, and lore instead of allowing the story to breathe, which makes the world-building feel more like information dumping compared to the first season. Still, the hints about humanity’s technologically advanced past and the true purpose of the Dark Lords are genuinely intriguing, and Vordin’s mysterious plans leave plenty of questions worth pondering.

Overall, this installment feels like it’s finally getting back on track after the slower school-focused portion of the season. Alicia’s latest challenge looks especially promising, while Luna continues to be one of the most entertaining parts of the series. With several major confrontations now being set up, the story appears to be building toward something much bigger, and I’m definitely curious to see where it goes next.
