Picking up long after the events of Season One and the movie (that’s yet to be dubbed as I’m typing this), Tanya the Evil returns with a season premiere that immediately drops viewers back into its brutal alternate-history battlefield. Rather than dwelling on exposition, the episode confidently reestablishes its military setting, political intrigue, and Tanya’s calculating, merciless personality. Her commanding presence remains as captivating as ever, while fresh character interactions add welcomed dark humor to the otherwise grim atmosphere.
The rest of the proceedings deliver exactly what fans have come to expect, combining explosive aerial combat with tactical strategy and sharp dialogue while continuing to expand the series’ alternate-history world. Studio NUT returns with noticeably improved visuals, fluid action sequences, polished CGI, and excellent sound design, all elevated by a consistently outstanding performance from Monica Rial as Tanya. The episode also strikes a satisfying balance between intense battlefield action, character-driven humor, and the ever-present themes of propaganda, leadership, and the harsh realities of war, making for a strong and confident return.
Overall, this was an excellent season premiere that successfully recaptures everything that made the brutal and hilariously unhinged show so memorable while showcasing improvements in its presentation. It confidently reintroduces its unique blend of military tactics, black comedy, and psychological warfare without feeling repetitive, leaving plenty of intrigue for what’s to come. If the rest of the season can maintain this level of quality, longtime fans have every reason to be excited for Tanya’s long-awaited return.
