Todd McFarlane Teases Spawn Adult Animated Series Reboot
Todd McFarlane’s making his yearly pledge to bring us back an animated series inspired by Spawn though it seems this one seems to have more credence. The guy who gave us Venom was at Fan Expo Canada where he was hyping up Keith David’s return to the classic comic book character for Mortal Kombat as part of the game’s first wave of DLC character, with this one set to release in March 2020. Keith voiced the role back when Spawn was an excellent HBO original series and it looks like Todd is trying to reboot it possibly with David attached to reprise his role.
“We’re talking right now. I just had a couple meetings this weekend about a couple different animation looks, both something that we can get kids in at a younger age and then get them into the sort of crack cocaine version of Spawn,” McFarlane said. “And then do the adult one. So we’re talking about that. I think both of those come after the movie.”
I’m not sure the phrase “kid-friendly” really applies itself to Spawn, but I’m all for the older skewing series returning sooner rather than later.

There's got to be some kind of twist that's going to happen with this. I don't know if they're setting up an April Fool's joke now or what's going on, but it seems too strange that they'd suddenly reverse on doing a fourth and fifth season after the show was already renewed and they were even just talking about working on those seasons like a couple months ago or something. Or maybe the two episodes yet to release will secretly somehow each be like a "season" in themselves?
