English Dub Review: Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World “Good Loser”

Overview

Subaru’s two sets of memories have merged, and he leads the others in an all-out war to conquer the tower.

Our Take

Picking up from the previous episode, Re: ZERO wastes little time getting Subaru back into the thick of things, with Emilia overjoyed to have him back to his usual self. From there, everyone splits up to deal with the various threats still surrounding them, setting the stage for several long-awaited confrontations. The biggest highlight is easily Julius finally getting his moment to shine after his ridiculously long battle with Reid. His determination, character development, and refusal to abandon the identity he’s chosen for himself make this one of his most satisfying moments in the series, while the episode also delivers some genuinely wholesome moments between Subaru, Emilia, Beatrice, and the others.

After last week’s slower presentation, this episode felt much more substantial, especially when it came to the animation. The Julius and Reid fight was absolutely the centerpiece, with Vincent Chansard once again delivering some incredibly fluid and energetic animation that made the long-awaited showdown feel appropriately spectacular. There were a few odd-looking cuts and inconsistent drawings outside of the major fight, but they didn’t completely overshadow what was otherwise a visually impressive episode. The emotional beats worked well too, particularly with Anastasia and Julius, giving the episode some heart alongside all the action.

Overall, this was a strong episode that feels like Re: ZERO is finally charging toward the finish line. Subaru is back, several major conflicts are moving forward, and the remaining characters are finally positioned for the arc’s climax. With only **two episodes left**, there’s still a lot to wrap up, but after an episode like this, I’m definitely curious to see how everything comes together. Vincent Chansard brought the feast this week, so let’s see what the final two episodes have cooking.
