Our Take

Picking up where the previous episode left off, the story shifts its focus away from the main trio to introduce a new character and a growing resistance movement. While episodes that sideline the central cast don’t usually rank among my favorites, this detour serves an important purpose by expanding the parallel world’s lore and showing what everyday life looks like under alien occupation. Seeing the conflict from the perspective of ordinary citizens adds welcome depth to the setting, even if I found the change in focus less engaging than the episodes before it.

The rest of the proceedings does a solid job of emphasizing just how drastically society has changed, with the constant alien presence leaving humanity fearful, frustrated, and searching for hope. The introduction of the resistance raises plenty of intriguing questions about where the story is headed, and I appreciated the subtle way the main characters were still woven into the narrative, and the growing sense of escalation helps make this world feel increasingly compelling.

Overall, this was probably an ok episode that mostly excels in terms of worldbuilding but nothing else. Its slower pace and focus on world-building may not appeal to everyone, yet it successfully lays the groundwork for bigger developments while hinting that the story has far greater ambitions than it first appeared. Even with this brief detour, I’m more invested than ever and can’t wait to see what happens next.
