English Dub Review: The Klutzy Class Monitor and the Girl with the Short Skirt “The Klutz and the High School Girl’s Summer Break Plus the Start of Their Second Semester”
Overview:
Poem and Sakuradaimon start dating after his confession, but fail to keep their relationship a secret.
Our Take(Spoilers):
This show has reached peak status, folks. When the episode started, I was worried that we were heading towards misunderstanding territory. After Sakuradaimon confessed, we skipped ahead three days, and I began to think that maybe it wasn’t a confession. I wasn’t alone because, as it turns out, Poem was unsure of what he meant, too. They got together to hang out, and I was starting to despair when Poem thought that maybe Sakuradaimon meant that he liked her as a friend.
Luckily, Sakuradaimon began to blush and confess that it made him more anxious than he thought it would to “spend time with the girl I like.” This led to them having a heart-to-heart conversation, and Poem coming to the realization that she likes Sakuradaimon as well. She then suggests that they go out, and Sakuradaimon agrees. We have a couple!
Their sisters begin to think that something is up with them when Sakuradaimon gets himself and his sister a smartphone. Lyric and Kikuka follow them, but Lyric ends up helping Kikuka figure out how to use her smartphone.
There was another trope I was afraid would come to pass when Poem suggested that they keep their relationship secret. They tried at first to do so, but Sakuradaimon is such an honest guy that he struggles to keep a secret. Poem decides it’s best if they don’t lie, and now I’m looking forward to the next few episodes.
Poem and Sakuradaimon became a couple in episode nine of a twelve-episode series. That makes me hopeful that we’ll go a little further than blushing and handholding. This has the makings of a top-tier romance anime if it can stick the last episodes.
I know that I mentioned it when the show first started, but it’s so cool getting to hear Adam Gibbs in a Crunchyroll dub. The way he brings an earnest voice to the character of Sakuradaimon is great. He must enjoy voicing these quirky types of characters because he does a lot of them. I think he and Alexis Tipton go well together as well; their characters vibe well together, and I think they’re a part of that.
This show has endeared itself to me now, and I hope that it continues this upward trend. There aren’t too many other characters that I expect to get together at this stage. Maybe the student council president and the vice president, but I think that will take a lot more time.
