English Dub Review: I Want to End This Love Game “My Childhood Friend Wants to Sleep Over”
Overview:
Miku is worried that Yukiya isn’t attracted to her. She and Wakana come up with a plan.
Our Take:
This episode was pretty flashback-heavy. Nothing wrong with that in particular, but it did make me frustrated that these two lovebirds are stuck where they are. I was surprised when Wakana told Miku that she’s pretty sure that her brother, Yukiya, likes her. She put some doubt in Miku by adding “at least I think he does,” but I feel like most high school students would take that as a good thing.
The reason the flashbacks made me sad for these two is that they clearly care for each other. Miku used to stay over all the time when they were kids. There was even a time after her grandmother passed away that Yukiya heard her crying in the middle of the night. It was cute to see how they’ve learned to trust and respect each other.
The love game is the whole premise for the show, but ironically is also the thing holding it back. I feel that if it wasn’t for this game they’re playing they would already be a couple. Neither wants to lose so neither of them is willing to admit their feelings either.
