English Dub Review: I Want to End This Love Game “My Childhood Friend Becomes My Apprentice?”
Overview:
Miku helps Shirayuri win over her childhood friend while figuring out how to move things forward with Yukiya.
Our Take(Spoilers):
One of my usual rom-com shows didn’t air yesterday so I’m feeling a little bit of witdrawal if I’m being honest. But this episode gave us a lot to chew on and honestly I’m starting to wonder if the love game might be coming to an end soon. Or changing at the very least.
Miku helped Shirayuri by partaking in some roleplay exercises and Miku started with the big guns. If you don’t know what the term “kabedon” means I feel certain that you’ve seen one before. It’s when a guy (usually but not always) slams his hand on the wall that a girl happens to be leaning against. Trapping them together in a way, and this is what Miku did to Shirayuri which activated her fighting instincts. She assaulted Miku so hard that Miku saw her ancestors. Suffice it to say that Shirayuri still has a bit of a ways to go.
This episode did what I was hoping would happen with a potential love triangle when Shirayuri was introduced. There’s a group project happening in Miku and Yukiya’s class and one of Miku’s groupmates started to seem interested in Yukiya.
Her name is Akane and Yukiya noticed that her lip gloss was a collab with an anime he likes. She noticed that he noticed and started to talk to him. Miku wasn’t worried at first but when Yukiya said she looks cute and Akane asked him for his Insta she got a little concerned. Akane even told Miku that she wasn’t interested in Yukiya in that way but it still threw her off. When Yukiya downloaded Insta the next day it hurt her feelings because she’d been trying to get him to install for a while and it seemed like installed it for this other girl.
The reason I’m glad this happened is it seems like this has motivated Miku to take some steps forward. She decides to play the Pocky game with Yukiya. If you don’t know what that is, imagine the spaghetti scene fromĀ The Lady and the TrampĀ but with a chocolate wafer stick instead.
While they’re playing the Pocky breaks in the middle so Mikue wants to try again. That’s where the episode ends. I probably shouldn’t get my hopes up but if this game leads to a kiss then I’ll be happy.
