English Dub Review: I Want to End This Love Game “My Childhood Friend Cooks”

Overview:

Yukiya and Miku each have their own agendas in making lunch.

Our Take:

I’m going to take a moment to talk about the voice talent in this show. Specifically, I want to talk about Giovannie Cruz, who voices Miku. I haven’t heard her in anything that I’m aware of, but I like how she voices Miku. What I’m about to say is going to sound like a bad thing, but I mean it in a good way. Occasionally, her voice sounds bad, but in a good way. Does that make sense? It gives her voice a uniqueness that I really enjoy, and it makes the character of Miku stand out more.

As for the show, I’m still not sure how I feel about it. I want to give it room to breathe before I say whether I think it’s good or bad. There are a lot of tropes being presented that I’m not a fan of, though. Why is it always the heroine getting jealous when girls talk to the main guy? We seldom see guys hitting on the heroine. We did see some guys talk to Miku during lunch in this episode, but Yukiya didn’t seem that bothered. I don’t know, it’s a weird vibe, and I appreciated that in the first episode, he thought about Miku having a boyfriend, and it worried him, but that’s about as far as it goes in shows like this.
