English Dub Season Review: Anyway, I’m Falling in Love with You Season Two

Overview:

As seasons have passed, Mizuho Nishino’s adolescence has been full of ups and downs. With Christmas approaching, she intends to celebrate the special event with all of her four childhood friends: Kizuki Hazawa, Shin Kashiwagi, Airu Izumi, and Shuugo Hoshikawa. However, Kizuki makes the first move when he declares that he wants to spend the time alone with Mizuho. Although hesitant at first, Mizuho ends up confiding in him and declares Kizuki to be her boyfriend!

Our Take(Spoilers):

If you’ve been following my review of this show at all, then you know that I’m not a fan. I love romance shows, but harem’s can be hit or miss. This one was rarely good, and while it had a decent enough ending, that wasn’t enough to salvage it in my eyes. I think the main problem for me was that I didn’t feel invested in any of it. You have three guys all wanting to be with the same girl, and one of them doesn’t even try all that hard. A wrinkle that is thrown into the story is Airu being in love with Kizuki, and honestly, having a gay man represented in this was probably the best part. But Airu’s arc is over and done with pretty quickly, I would imagine, because it was relatively drama-free.

How I approach reviewing things is in a way that I will tell you if you should spend your time watching something. Obviously, that only works if our tastes are similar, but I think most anime fans wouldn’t recommend this show.

Airu and Shuugo are decent enough characters, but the rest are maddeningly frustrating. The idea of high school kids missing out on their last year of youth because of COVID is a fascinating idea for a story, but it felt like that was secondary to the rest and acted more like set dressing. I’ll tell ya what, there is one thing I’m happy about when it comes to Anyway, I’m Falling in Love with You. I’m glad that it’s over.
