English Dub Review: Rent-a-Girlfriend “Ex-Girlfriend, Nanami Mami”

What is Mami planning to do by renting Chizuru out? What’s going through her mind?
Our Take(Spoilers):
I would pay a lot of money for shows like Jojo’s, Mushoku Tensei, Frieren, or Vinland Saga to get quick anime turnarounds like this. It’s a slice of life show, so I get that there aren’t as many crazy shots that would need to be animated like a fantasy show or something with a lot of action. I can’t figure out how this keeps getting new seasons made.
Having said that, we’re finally to the part where I stopped reading the manga. I’d never seen Mami’s backstory before, so it was kind of cool to see that. It definitely doesn’t excuse her shitty behavior; in fact, in some ways, it makes it worse. She wasn’t allowed to stay with the first boy she fell in love with, so whenever she sees someone fall in love, she gets pissed and wants to ruin it. Either way, it was nice to see more of what makes Mami the way she is, and I hope there might be more to it. Why was she able to seemingly date Kazuya with no consequences?
