English Dub Review: Rock Is a Lady’s Modesty “Lady Version: I Want to Change!/ Rock Version: Get on My Level, Friggin’ Noob”
Overview (Spoilers Below):
Thanks to Otoha, the four band members will participate in a battle of the bands. Tina shows no signs of improving and talks of kicking her out begin.
Our Take:
Lilisa and Otoha now have a full band, but it’s not without some more problems that stem from their new band members, particularly Tamaki. Following her recruitment, the band is immediately caught up in its first battle of the bands, putting more pressure on Lilisa than during the first live performance. The reason is that Otoha challenged Tamaki’s previous band, Bitter Ganache, with the winner being the one Tamaki will join. Of course, the other reason is that Tamaki wanted to test Lilisa’s worth in playing with her old friend, so Lilisa would have to step up her game to impress this strict and seemingly cold-hearted bassist. It also doesn’t help that Tina’s lack of confidence and keyboarding skills are throwing off their musical game.
When it comes to this episode, it’s no surprise that having more band members in the group doesn’t mean it should be smooth sailing from here on out. Tina’s determination to improve her confidence continues to allow Lilisa to help her improve on the keyboard. However, Lilisa would have to balance her new duty with figuring out Tamaki’s seemingly unreadable depth in her playing. If that wasn’t enough, she’ll also have to deal with Tamaki’s strict order to kick Tina out due to the latter’s minuscule progress. That alone highlights Lilisa’s struggle between forming a rock-solid harmony to outperform Tamaki’s previous band and helping others come out of their shells through the power of music. Obviously, Lilisa would end up choosing the latter, but when it comes to Tamaki, she’ll have to do a lot more than reasoning to convince that unkind bassist otherwise. It makes me wonder why Otoha is still friends with that bitch in the first place.
