Our Take
Picking up from the previous episode, 100 Girlfriends slows things down for a much-needed character-focused episode centered on Nano and Kusuri. The Nano portion is easily the highlight, delivering plenty of adorable moments while giving her more time to shine. Rentarō’s determination to help her through the episode leads to some genuinely funny and wholesome situations, and it’s nice seeing the series revisit its established characters rather than constantly rushing toward the next big “soul-mate” introduction.
The Kusuri-focused portion is similarly entertaining, especially as we finally get to spend more time with her family. The absurdity is dialed up as usual, with plenty of ridiculous comedy, eccentric personalities, and the kind of over-the-top situations that have become a trademark of the series. While the second half doesn’t land every joke quite as well as the Nano segment, it still delivers some memorable moments. It reinforces just how much Kusuri’s chaotic antics contribute to the Rentarō Family’s dynamic.
Overall, this is a fun and welcome breather that proves the series doesn’t always need to introduce someone new to keep things entertaining. Nano gets some much-deserved attention, Kusuri and her family provide plenty of laughs, and the episode balances its silliness with some surprisingly sweet character moments. The pacing feels more relaxed than the recent rapid-fire introductions, making this one of the more enjoyable episodes of the season so far, and then it ends with one hell of a cliffhanger that leaves you immediately wanting to see what happens next.
