English Dub Review: Tougen Anki “Bad News”

The students reach the Kyoto underground and discover new things about the war they are involved in.

Our Take:

I know it’s going to be weird complaining about what I’m about to but hear me out. I understand anime girls with huge tits are nothing new, but we’ve been introduced to three female characters, and they all have huge tits, and two of them are supposed to be high-schoolers! I’m a bit worried, I’m looking for things to dislike about this show, but it hasn’t done anything to stand out yet. It’s a shonen with a little bit more violence and gore than you might see.

It was cool seeing someone use their Oni blood to heal people as opposed to weaponizing it. Kyouya (the doctor) was able to grow back limbs and heal internal injuries as well. He had to get a massive transfusion beforehand so that he had enough blood to make it work.

One thing that is interesting about this story is that we are seeing it from the perspective of the “bad guys” in most other stories. The Momotarou seems more awful than the Oni, but if someone told you that they were killing “demons,” I imagine you wouldn’t have much sympathy when a demon child is killed. But even this interesting premise feels rehashed because a show like Tokyo Ghoul did it better in my opinion, even with the poor second season and rushed third. At least a remake is coming for that soon.
