“Married… with Children” Animated Revival Canceled
The highly anticipated animated revival of the classic sitcom “Married… with Children” has been officially halted. According to reports, Sony Pictures Television has decided to cease development on the project, which would have reunited the original core cast members: Ed O’Neill, Katey Sagal, Christina Applegate, and David Faustino.
The original “Married… with Children” ran for 11 seasons on Fox, from 1987 to 1997, and was renowned for its controversial and boundary-pushing humor. The series followed the misadventures of the dysfunctional, blue-collar Bundy family and became a cult classic for its often raunchy and unapologetic comedy.
While some of the show’s humor, which at times included misogyny and body-shaming, may be considered outdated by today’s standards, the article also highlighted some surprisingly progressive moments for its era, such as episodes featuring gay and lesbian characters.
The cancellation of this project means that plans for an official reunion of the iconic Bundy family are now over, disappointing fans who were hoping to see a new chapter in the lives of Al, Peggy, Kelly, and Bud.
