Family Guy News: Kevin Garnett Is A Fan ; “It Insists Upon Itself” Explained
Move over Wheaties (seriously, who eats that shit anyway), but Family Guy is exactly what the body needs if you are an NBA Player that wants to win a championship. So says Hall-of-Fame NBA Superstar Kevin Garnett.
In a recent episode of his KG Certified podcast Kevin noted that his daily pre-game routine consisted of watching Family Guy everyday at 6pm without fail. His favorite characters, “Peter, Stewie, and Quagmire” says the NBA-All Star who sheepishly added that last name in there but with no further explanation. For what it’s worth, his co-star, “THE Truth” Paul Pierce (also fellow Hall-of-Famer and NBA Champion) notes he’s more of a fan of The Simpsons. Regardless, watch Animation Domination and you too can one day be NBA Champions.
Fortunately for my two favorite Boston Celtics players of all-time, they should be happy to know that both Family Guy AND The Simpsons are returning over the course of the next couple of months on FOX with brand-new episodes.
One of the episodes Kevin may have had a chance to watch is the episode entitled “The Griffin Family History,”. In it, robbers break into the Griffin household and the family has to hide in Peter’s already built panic room. To pass the time, we get stories about past Griffins while the panic room slowly fills with water to the point of near drowning only for Joe to finally come by and save the day. Before that last part happens, a debate unfolds between Peter and the rest of the family about whether or not The Godfather is a good movie. Peter says no, claiming “It insists upon itself” which eventually devolves into further discussion.
Turns out, there’s some history with that line. According to show creator Seth MacFarlane, “It insists upon itself” is a line from one of his former film teachers from Rhode Island School of Design whom said the same thing when discussing The Sound of Music which also happens to be Seth’s favorite movie.
Synopsis:
Family Guy continues to entertain its die-hard fan base with razor-sharp humor, spot-on parodies, spectacular animation and orchestra-backed original music. Since its debut in 1999, the series has reached cult status among fans, and its breakout star, a talking baby, has become one of the greatest TV characters of all time. Family Guy has racked up numerous awards, including an Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Comedy Series, only the second animated series in television history to be honored with such a distinction. Most recently, series creator and lead voice actor Seth MacFarlane (voices of “Peter Griffin,” “Stewie Griffin,” “Brian Griffin” and “Glenn Quagmire”) was nominated for the 2021 Emmy Award for Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance and won the 2019 Emmy Award for Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance. Cast member Alex Borstein (voice of “Lois Griffin”) won the 2018 Emmy Award in the category. MacFarlane also was nominated that year. He won the 2017 and 2016 Emmy Award in the category, and was nominated from 2013 to 2015.
Family Guy is a 20th Television Animation production. Seth MacFarlane is creator and executive producer. Rich Appel and Alec Sulkin serve as executive producers and showrunners, while Steve Callaghan, Tom Devanney, Danny Smith, Kara Vallow, Mark Hentemann, Patrick Meighan and Alex Carter are executive producers.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
