Review: Bob’s Burgers “Boogie Board”
Overview
When Louise signs up for a father-daughter boogie board contest, Bob’s past comes back to haunt him.
Our Take
You might think it would be weird for an animated series with a New Jersey setting would have an episode all about boogie-boarding airing just before Thanksgiving but in years past my former home state has had near 80-degree Christmas holidays so it really isn’t all that strange to have a beach-centric episode going off around this time. It also isn’t odd that a Bob’s Burgers episode would have another contest episode because we get those all of the time, what we DON’T get is a bunch of episodes about Teddy’s birthday bit both of those happen here.
There are also a few things we learn about both Bob and even his restaurant this week. For starters, Bob had a mishap on the beach years ago and it’s given him a slight fear of waves. Also of note, since when did Bob’s Burgers serve beer in the middle of the afternoon? Do you know how much a liquor/alcohol license is to get on the Jersey Show for a restaurant? It’s like a million dollars! Granted this is animated fiction and I’m not going to get held up on those details, and in fact, will be giving out extra kudos to whomever thought it was a good idea to get Teddy and his pals lit on his birthday.
I’m totally with Teddy about not giving a shit about his birthday, I’m right there with him (fun fact, I share a birthday with Louise’ actor Kristen Schaal) and the way he would react to everything going on is exactly the way I’d do it and because of that I found the birthday games hysterical. A solid episode of Bob’s Burgers this week, nothing over-the-top, but a good week nonetheless.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
