English Dub Review: Trigun Stampede “Bright Light, Shine through the Darkness”

Overview:

Vash, the town of Jeneora Rock, and the Nebraskas reach a three-way truce, but their brief moment of peace is shattered by yet another assailant. He seems to be after the plant as well, but something more sinister seems to be at play.

Our Take:
Again I have to say I never watched the original run of Trigun so this is my first experience with the series. I have to wonder if the original series got this dark, from what I saw it was more on the comedic side of things. It looked like a funnier Cowboy Bebop to me, but if these first three episodes are anything to go by that is definitely not the case.
Vash the Stampede definitely has a silly side to him but the subject matter has been anything but. We finally got to meet Vash’s brother, Millions Knives and I have to say that in just one episode Austin Tindle put in one of his most haunting performances. Knives was absolutely creepy and seems unbeatable. Jeneora Rock was destroyed easily by Million’s and of course, everyone blamed Vash. I’m really intrigued to see where this goes the rest of the way and the animation thus far has been fantastic for CGI.
