Leon and Marie realize they know each other from their past lives, and Leon confronts Marquis Frampton.

Our Take

Picking up from the previous episode, the story gives Marie some much-needed depth by exploring her tragic past and the circumstances that shaped who she became. While her history makes her easier to understand and even sympathize with, it doesn’t erase the damage she has caused over the course of two seasons. Meanwhile, Olivia continues struggling with her confidence, though her bond with Angelica remains one of the highlights. Their relationship brings some genuinely sweet moments, even if Olivia’s insecurity feels somewhat repetitive after the development she received in the first season.

Leon, as usual, is easily one of the most entertaining parts of the episode. His brutally honest attitude, arrogant personality, and complete disregard for the nobles make his scenes incredibly satisfying, while the political storyline finally begins moving toward the larger conflict that has been building. The animation remains inconsistent in places, and some of the character development and romance feel like they could have been handled better, but the episode still manages to balance its drama with plenty of humor and Leon being Leon.

Overall, this was an enjoyable episode that gives Marie more emotional weight while continuing to develop Olivia and Angelica’s relationship. Leon remains the biggest reason to keep watching, and his unpredictable personality continues to carry many of the season’s best moments. With the story finally building toward the next major conflict, I’m definitely looking forward to seeing where things go from here.
