Netflix Anime News: Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness & Eden’s Zero Confirmed For 2021 ; Numerous Clips Released For Acquisitions

Netflix has announced 2021 start dates for Eden’s Zero and Resident Evil:Infinite Darkness. For Eden’s Zero, the anime would be produced by J.C.Staff and directed by Yūshi Suzuki, with Shinji Ishihara serving as chief director, Mitsutaka Hirota overseeing scripts, and Yurika Sako designing the characters. Yoshihisa Hirano will compose the music. The synopsis, just released by Netflix, is as follows:

It is the year X492, an age in which people freely travel through the universe. Rebecca, a video-creating B-Cuber, visits the robotic world of Granbell and meets a young man with special powers: Shiki, who’s lived his entire life among machines. Soon Shiki is exploring the cosmos with Rebecca, encountering new places, people and things, and making friends along the way.

Netflix has also announced that the voice actors that were part of the excellent Resident Evil 2 reboot will reprise their roles in the upcoming anime series.

The new anime series will be produced and supervised by Capcom’s Hiroyuki Kobayashi, who has been responsible for bringing numerous titles in the Resident Evil series to life. TMS Entertainment, which has birthed various anime series like “Lupin the 3rd” and “Detective Conan,”is leading production, with Quebico, led by Kei Miyamoto (Resident Evil: Vendetta), in charge of 3DCG animation.

Leon S. Kennedy will be voiced by Nick Apostolides, and Claire Redfield will be voiced by Stephanie Panisello, well known to fans as the voice actors from the reimagined Resident Evil 2 from 2019.

In the new teaser art, Leon S. Kennedy is pictured in a suit, a first for the “Resident Evil” series, holding a gun with a serious expression. Meanwhile, Claire Redfield is searching for something with a flashlight in one hand. This teaser art gives a glimpse of Leon and Claire in action, while a horde of zombies are headed towards one of the major sites of the series: the White House. The new stills of Leon and Claire show their coincidental reunion at the White House.

In 2006, there were traces of improper access to secret Presidential files found in the White House’s network. American federal agent Leon S. Kennedy is among the group invited to the White House to investigate this incident, but when the lights suddenly go out, Leon and the SWAT team are forced to take down a horde of mysterious zombies. Meanwhile, TerraSave staff member Claire Redfield encounters a mysterious image drawn by a youth in a country she visited, while providing support to refugees. Haunted by this drawing, which appears to be of a victim of viral infection, Claire starts her own investigation. The next morning, Claire visits the White House to request the construction of a welfare facility. There, she has a chance reunion with Leon and uses the opportunity to show him the boy’s drawing. Leon seems to realize some sort of connection between the zombie outbreak at the White House and the strange drawing, but he tells Claire that there is no relation and leaves. In time, these two zombie outbreaks in distant countries lead to events that shake the nation to its very core.

Forest of Piano

The first season is directed by Gaku Nakatani. Ryūtarō Suzuki as the series director, Aki Itami and Mika Abe are in charge of series composition, and Sumie Kinoshita is handling character designs. Harumi Fuuki is composing the series’ music.  Hiroyuki Yamaga directed the second season.

Synopsis:

Plot concept: Amamiya Shuuhei moves from Tokyo to the countryside due to his grandmother’s bad health. His father is a famous pianist and Shuuhei has taken strict piano lessons since he was very young, aspiring to follow in his footsteps. In school, he is teased by his classmates and is dared to play the piano in the forest. This piano is said to be cursed: if you play it, no sound will come. After school, Ichinose Kai, a boy in the same class, takes Shuuhei to the forest. When Shuuhei tries to play he fails, but Kai plays a wonderful song.

 

Children of the Whales

The series is is directed by Kyōhei Ishiguro and written by Michiko Yokote, with animation by J.C.Staff, character designs by Haruko Iizuka and music by Hiroaki Tsutsumi.

Synopsis:

Chakuro is the 14-year-old archivist of the Mud Whale, a nigh-utopian island that floats across the surface of an endless sea of sand. Nine in ten of the inhabitants of the Mud Whale have been blessed and cursed with the ability to use saimia, special powers that doom them to an early death. Chakuro and his friends have stumbled across other islands, but they have never met, seen, or even heard of a human who wasn’t from their own. One day, Chakuro visits an island as large as the Mud Whale and meets a girl who will change his destiny.
