Pacific Rim: Black Dated For Netflix
Netflix has announced a March 4th start date for Pacific Rim: Black. The series had been previously ordered for 20 episodes with the first ten which were supposed to premiere last year but are now slated for a spring premiere.
Returning to the epic battle of Kaiju and Jaegers, this original anime series will expand upon the story of the first two live-action movies and follow two siblings – an idealistic teenage boy and his naïve younger sister – who are forced to pilot an abandoned Jaeger across a hostile landscape in a desperate attempt to find their missing parents.
Our Take
Legendary Entertainment made waves last week with the announcement of a Skull Island animated series on the way for Netflix. Coincide that with a previously ordered Godzilla: Singular Point, and that long-talked about crossover between all of the kaiju titans is certainly coming into focus.
There's got to be some kind of twist that's going to happen with this. I don't know if they're setting up an April Fool's joke now or what's going on, but it seems too strange that they'd suddenly reverse on doing a fourth and fifth season after the show was already renewed and they were even just talking about working on those seasons like a couple months ago or something. Or maybe the two episodes yet to release will secretly somehow each be like a "season" in themselves?
