Review: Our Cartoon President “Hillary 2020”
Overview (Spoilers Below)
Mike Bloomberg just got the shit kicked out of him at the debate so he opts to team up with Hillary Clinton for the assist, but the former first lady opts for another run instead. Problem is, the campaign is a disaster because Hillary’s just as corrupt as she’s always been and it starts to show up in all of the places where she’s supposed to be running against. During the next debate, Hillary stakes her case so as to be President of the United States. Chelsea Clinton wants nothing to do with her campaign so opts to leave much to the chagrin of all of her opponents who are getting loads of talking points to use against her.
Meanwhile, Cartoon Kellyanne Conway and Cartoon Larry Kudlow wants to bring in Elon Musk to help him launch an Oval Office simulator to distract the President from constantly making a buffoon out of himself but still convince him that he’s doing a good job. After a while, Trump snaps out of it so that he can run against Hillary’s political resurgence. Fortunately, Hillary suspends her campaign in support of Jeff Bezos just as Trump reveals himself to the general populace.
Our Take
Another week of Democratic team-up plots. I was actually somewhat looking forward to spending more time with Mayor Mike this go-round and you can tell there were some good ideas just not truly fleshed out. The classic shadowy figures that is the billionaire Democratic donors was a super fun touch only to be kinda ruined by a tired Hillary bit. Seriously, we’ve spent YEARS doing Hillary bits on both this show and others, to get some time allotted to Mike Bloomberg would’ve been a refreshing change of pace.
Surprisingly, the Trump bit turned out to be a tad more original. I was happy to see the Elon Musk cameo temporary, and instead focus on the slow degradation of the President. I actually do prefer the episodes where Donald doesn’t have to do TOO much and instead just pepper him in with the strong supporting cast. It’s not ideal, but it helps stave off the potential monotony of Trump which can quickly trip up into typical cliched Trump-isms which did NOT happen this week.
