Animated Adaptations of Ubisoft and Webtoon Franchises in Development

Adult animation productions are red hot and studios with deep intellectual properties are jumping in.

First up, Deadline has an exclusive on Webtoon putting into development Lore Olympus as an animated series for young adults in conjunction with The Jim Henson Company. Says Webtoon,

“Witness what the gods do…after dark. The friendships and the lies, the gossip and the wild parties, and of course, forbidden love. Because it turns out, the gods aren’t so different from us after all, especially when it comes to their problems. Stylish and immersive, this is one of mythology’s greatest stories — The Taking of Persephone — as it’s never been told before.”

Meanwhile, The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Ubisoft is dipping into its treasure troves of IP for development of series like Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Vibe with Adi Shankar and even a Watch Dogs adaptation. Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Vibe is inspired by the Far Cry 3 add-on Blood Dragon and Ubisoft has also put into development an animated sketch series that lampoons gaming culture.

Here’s hoping some of these series get ordered to full seasons sooner rather than later.
