Holy F*ck, The Animated Trailer For “Starship Troopers: Traitor of Mars” Is Here

Nothing like a line drive from the left field line hitting us square in the jaw for this one. In honor of the 20 year anniversary of Starship Troopers, Sony Pictures and Fathom Events are teaming up for a one-day screening of a brand-new CG-animated feature sequel of the live-action franchise entitled Starship Troopers: Traitor of Mars.
The event is said to span over 500 theaters on August 21st at both the 730 pm and 10 pm local times for each of the locations with the screenings also featuring bonus material featuring producers with writer Ed Neumeier and fucking “Johnny Rico” himself Casper Van Dien. Dina Meyer is set to reprise her role as “Dizzy Flores” in what Fandango reports is a 1 hour / 40 minutes “R”-rated film with tickets set to be available on June 19th via Fathom Events.
There's got to be some kind of twist that's going to happen with this. I don't know if they're setting up an April Fool's joke now or what's going on, but it seems too strange that they'd suddenly reverse on doing a fourth and fifth season after the show was already renewed and they were even just talking about working on those seasons like a couple months ago or something. Or maybe the two episodes yet to release will secretly somehow each be like a "season" in themselves?
