Watch how the producers of Anomalisa turned puppets into people
Whatever the producers of Anomalisa did to this movie to get it as good as it got, worked. We called it the best animated film of 2015 in a very crowded field and when we watch featurettes like this we know we were right with our decision.
The Starburns-produced film did the impossible and made animated characters move and work like real people with detail that is so ridiculous that you really do forget that you are watching puppets like 20 minutes into the film. The process in doing this is pain-staking, and to prove it Paramount Pictures has released a featurette to show you exactly what goes into the process of stop-motion animation.
Can you at all imagine the patience that goes through with making a film like this? I would quit after one day of trying. I would literally assemble everything all day long, then smash it to bits because of mounting frustrations.
