Red Wings Goalie Petr Mrazek Debuts Holiday-Themed ‘Family Guy’ Mask

Ah, hockey goalies, the artists of the rink. The NHL has seen some impressive mask designs in its past, but none quite like this “freakin’ sweet” holiday gem: Peter Griffin of Family Guy, a scary snowman, and of course, the Czech Republic flag.

Protecting the melon of Detroit Red Wings backup/goaltending prospect Petr Mrazek, this mask sure is a beaut – and it will be donned by a guy who doesn’t even watch the famous FOX cartoon.

“We came up with the entire design here and just ran with it,” designer Ray Bishop said in an interview with InGoal Magazine. “We put Merry Christmas on the chin in Czech and added the Czech flag in as part of the snowman’s scarf, along with plenty of sparkle and details to make it pop and be a ‘one of a kind’ design just like we like them here.” Of course the Red Wings logo is in there as well, to remind us all that this is hockey, and not a match in which the Cointen Spinky Whompers flumped the Floing Boing Welfencloppers, 70-fluff to 40-flabe.

Mrazek has been known to get creative with his gear, even including the Family Guy patriarch previously.

Griffin is no stranger to sports himself, having been a center for the New England Patriots following his failed career as a cowboy-astronaut-millionaire.
