Tony Sirico returning to ‘Family Guy’

According to Entertainment Weekly, Sopranos star Tony Sirico will be making a guest appearance in a brand-new episode of Family Guy set to air later this season. According to the report:

The former star of The Sopranos will play a heightened version of himself in several live-action moments that are sprinkled into an installment of the animated Fox comedy that will air in late fall or early winter. “He is irritated about what’s being said a couple different times throughout one episode,” explains Family Guy executive producer Steve Callaghan. “Anytime someone says something about Italians, we cut to Tony Sirico in his kitchen to get his reaction.”

This isn’t the first time that Tony has had a role on Family Guy as last year he played the voice of ‘Vinny’ of whom was the short-term replacement for Brian only for the MacFarlane-voiced dog to return right before Christmas 2013. However, producer Steve Callaghan notes that we MAY see Vinny pop up in the future for a different purpose:

”We’re often discussing ways that we might be able to bring him back and incorporate him into, if not a storyline, at least a gag here or there.”

I wouldn’t mind having Vinny return in some fashion, as I think it could be a cool dynamic. As a matter of fact, I think he’d work great with maybe Bertrand in an episode, like Vinny turning evil. In any case, I like me some Sirico, and I’m looking forward to having him back, In the meantime, Family Guy premiers this Sunday Night on FOX @ 9 pm ET/PT, check your local listings!
