Shorts Review: Stoopid Buddy Shortz – “Manpire”

This short begs the question, “is there a better combination of people than a manly lumberjack and a vampire?” The answer is a unanimous “no.” This short did a great job of creating a hilarious character through the simple means of telling us what he loves and hates. From steak and stake puns to not having a reflection, the vampire stereotypes went for quite a while.

Once the typical vampire behavior ran out, however, things got a bit weird. Luckily, Manpire was able to reel it in with a few great lumberjack references, like chopping trees and eating flapjacks, while staying true to the vampire ways of being afraid of Van Helsing. And while I hate to admit, the last line joke did “arrive early” for me but sometimes you need a good pun to close it out. Very funny, great character, next Halloween costume.
