English Dub Review: Skeleton Knight in Another World “The Spirit of Chivalry Blooms at the Shinobi Village!”
Overview
With a new beastmen village built near the Lord Crown, Chiyome’s clan celebrates, and Arc joins in.
Our Take
Picking up from the previous episode, Arc and Ariane join Village Elder Hanzo the 22nd in celebrating the completion of the new village, giving Arc a chance to explore its unique ninja culture and discover technology that feels oddly familiar. He also meets Tsubone, one of the village’s Six Named Ninja, while the festivities bring plenty of lighter moments, including a surprisingly intense tug-of-war and Ariane getting drunk yet again. As the celebration winds down, Arc decides to continue traveling with Ariane and Chiyome, while a few developments in the background quietly hint that trouble may be closer than it appears.
The village festival makes for a fun change of pace, especially seeing Arc completely fascinated by the ninja culture and embracing every opportunity to enjoy himself. Chiyome also gets some much-needed attention, while Tsubone proves to be an amusing new presence with her playful teasing of Ariane. Naturally, drunk Ariane steals the show once again, turning into a walking disaster and providing some of the episode’s funniest moments. The tug-of-war is also surprisingly entertaining, giving the episode a nice bit of excitement amid all the comedy and festivities.
Overall, this is a fun, mostly lighthearted episode that puts character interactions and worldbuilding ahead of major plot progression. While the slower pace may feel like another detour for viewers eager to see the main story move forward, the festival setting gives Arc, Ariane, and Chiyome some enjoyable downtime while expanding the world around them. Between Arc geeking out over ninjas, Chiyome getting more attention, and Ariane once again proving that alcohol is her greatest natural enemy, it’s an entertaining breather before the story inevitably gets back on track.
