Review: Family Guy “The Most Interesting Man in the World”
Spoilers Below
Our episode picks up with Lois complaining to Peter that he needs to spend more time with Stewie. Peter gives in and brings Stewie to the park for some bonding time. Upon getting there, Peter learns that there is a bunch of fun stuff is happening over at the Clam, so he ditches Stewie. Once Lois finds out what Peter had done, she calls him an idiot. Offended, Peter decides to accept every business trip available to him in order to broaden his horizon. After trips to places like Chicago and San Francisco, Peter becomes a new man. But is this the kind of man the family truly wants?
The first thing that came to mind when I read the synopsis of this episode was that episode of “The Simpsons” where Homer has a crayon removed from his brain, and he becomes much smarter. This is a very similar story only with a Family Guy twist. Something I really enjoyed about this episode was that it followed a single story, and the writing behind it was so well done that I didn’t feel bored for a second. Almost every joke made me laugh, and the episode was paced out perfectly. The one time the episode ever felt rushed was the ending, but even that was funny.
This episode didn’t pull any punches in its humor, it definitely walked a thin line when joking about things such child molestation and breast cancer, but what could we expect from Family Guy? I think when you get into risqué issues such as those; you need to be respectful with how you present it, if that’s even possible. I think some people may come away from this episode feeling offended (Looking at you, Tucson), but like I said, it’s Family Guy.
Overall, I really enjoyed this episode. It has become my favorite of the season and I’ve already watched it three times since its premiere last night. I hope the show rides this wave of momentum in the final stretch of this season, because if the show can deliver something like this to us again, I’m excited. Perhaps they should take some more pages from the book of The Simpsons and have Peter start his own snow plow business! I’d watch it. I think this episode is everything that Family Guy should be. Maybe a bit more inclusion of the other family members would have brought this up to a perfect rating, but that’s just me nitpicking.
So, how did you guys feel about last night’s episode? Enjoy it as much as I did? Maybe not so much? Let me know below, and I hope you all have an awesome week!
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
