Review: American Dad “Rubberneckers”

Spoilers Below

After a short Easter break, American Dad returns with “Rubberneckers”. The episode title refers to those times you check out a woman, but have an elaborate excuse to save yourself from trouble. Stan must learn how to rubberneck after being caught checking out a bartender while out for dinner with Francine. Trouble arises when Stan becomes the target of an insurance fraud investigation, and the only way to to stay out of trouble with the law and Francine is to hide the fact that he was rubbernecking..

Meanwhile, Roger and Klaus spill red wine on the new couch and decide the best way to cover it up is to sit on it for the remainder of their lives.

I thought this was a pretty decent episode actually. The story wasn’t very interesting, but I found myself laughing quite a bit. The episode showcases a number of songs that were also very funny. Terry Crews guest starred in last night’s episode as the insurance fraud investigator, and his parts stole the show for me. From his musical number to drinking a glass of milk without any milk disappearing, it was all great. Everything in this episode flowed well together as well. By the end of the episode, I wanted to see more.

This episode wasn’t all good though. Like I mentioned above, the story wasn’t very interesting. It definitely made up for it in the humor department though, if you ask me. The subplot with Roger and Klaus wasn’t necessary at all. I think that particular story took up less than two minutes of the episode. I thought that it would tie into Stan’s story at some point later in the episode; that didn’t happen though, so in my opinion it came off as a waste of time.

Overall, I really enjoyed this episode. I thought the songs were all pretty funny. Terry Crews is just awesome in anything he does, and I learned the term “Rubbernecking”! The problems I did find in the episode didn’t take away from my enjoyment too much, but they were things that stoof out to me. I can see myself watching this episode again in the future.
