TBS’ “Final Space” Launches AR App; Continues Push In VR
And here’s why the network really hopes this thing is gonna work.
We reported last year about a Final Space VR pilot in the works from TBS and when we talked to the producers about it they had, even MORE, to say about it. But, Variety is reporting that TBS has decided to also launch an AR app to further diversify the types of revenue that they hope to ascertain from the animated series franchise.
Our Take
From the sounds of it, the VR pilot is still a ways off. But, could all of these extra marketing initiatives from TBS bode well for the show’s potential second season renewal? TBS has already canceled The Cops and Tarantula and we’re still waiting for Close Enough, but to say the least, the network is at 50% strength from the adult animation slate of originals they were hoping to launch this year. Turner Broadcasting needs Final Space to work if they want to stay competitive in a space that has already seen recent casualties on FX Networks and Comedy Central.
Hi Ashley, thank you so much for reading and we love the feedback. Note that on that day we had 14th posts go up and only ten posts show on the front page, so it's possible the preview had already been archived by the time you got to it. One recommendation would be to add our RSS feed to your favorite news aggregator service like Feedly, this way you get all of the latest posts!
