Review: Primal “Plague of Madness”
Overview (Spoilers Below)
What a better way to kick off the second half of Primal’s already stellar first season than an episode about a plague as we are RIGHT in the middle of a pandemic! This one goes after dinosaurs that makes them more irritable than usual and it’s got Fang and Spear on the run, especially the part when said dinosaurs turn into zombies! It takes a lot to kill these fuckers e.g. acid baths, lava pools, and even being thrown off of mountains doesn’t even work. Fortunately, our heroes are able to get away just fine and relatively unscathed.
Our Take
The second part of Primal’s first season continues us down a path of sordid crazy talk. I mean…ZOMBIE DINOSAURS? Who came up with that crazy shit??….oh yea, Genndy Tartakovsky. And like most of Genndy’s directorial efforts, this one dazzles, even if we don’t see that many fight scenes to help satiate the blood lust fans have for the series.
The imagery of the series is undeniable and that continues here. Gross as fuck sores, bubbling lava, fire-burned skies, and did I mention zombie dinosaurs? It’s all here folks, though how exactly this second-half premiere sets the table for the balance of the episodes remains unclear.
