Season Review: The Simpsons Season 24
In its 24th Season, The Simpsons are showing the pups how its done.
Bob’s Burgers has been getting a lot of press as of late, Family Guy usually gets the glamour, American Dad’s schedule always seems to get fucked with, and The Cleveland Show’s broadcast future is typically a hot topic. Yep there was a lot to talk about for AniDom, but quietly The Simpsons put up the strongest season in a while actually ranking 2nd in terms of quality when put up against the Seth shows and Bob. Speaking of Seth, he put out a hell of an effort for the Season 24 finale, and as a matter of fact that was probably the best part of this season and it always wasn’t the advertised guest stars either. In the much balley-hooed episode featuring soon-to-be-over pop star Justin Bieber, it was Jane Krakowski and Bill Hader that shined. Yea, Steve Carell and Ed Norton put out great performances this season, but I’ll take Tom Waits and veteran voice star Patton Oswalt any day of the week, too. No matter who was thrown in there with The Simpsons, everyone had to step up and those who didn’t were forgotten as fast as a fart in church (See: Bieber).
One of the other things The Simpsons have done very well this season is the modernization of the plots and story lines as time goes on. From story lines featuring holograms, Homer taking a page out of 50 Shades of Grey, and winning a storage locker, the writers continually put Springfield’s finest face to face in what is going on in the world today and typically with hysterical results. That said, we still get lovable traits that stand the test of time. Homer will always choke out Bart, Lisa will continue to whine about everything, Maggie will suck on her pacifier if need be. Doing this certainly keeps the older fans entertained while introducing The Simpsons to new audiences every season. We also had bad ass couch gags from the creators of Robot Chicken, Bill Plympton, and the eventual voted in winner from a contest that was really well done.
However, there were a few downfalls this season. For one, Zooey Deschanel episodes featuring Mary are usually painful and its because of her. Granted, I scored the Woody Allen-inspired episode a good grade, but had we used say Sarah Silverman’s ‘Nikki’ character it might have done even better. Also, we had the tendency to see some really awesome story ideas like Burns being a superhero only for it to be weighed down by let’s say a B-plot with Bart and Lisa doing whatever it is they do. Who here would’ve taken a full episode of Burns as a hero?? ME!
With all this taken into account, you can’t argue much with this season’s The Simpsons especially after 24 seasons and as a result the show earned every inch of its score. No matter WHO says otherwise.

"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
