Review: Incredible Edible American “Peachy Keen, Atlanta Eats”

Let’s hit up some Hot-lanta!

Spoilers Below

This week, Jeff and Audrey head to Atlanta to try a couple of fatty dishes. First up, was this kick ass looking tater tots deal which actually looked pretty good. Next was a peach dessert which I’ll take a pass on, followed by a decent looking fried chicken sandwich.

Our Take

My problem with this show is that Jeff and Audrey are not very good Food Network hosts. They don’t know how to work the kitchen in between spots like how a Guy Fieri does it. For example, when they were making the fried chicken, the couple kept trading verbal spars of affection at each other while the chef is making the fried chicken. Maybe the better thing to do would be to do a little research and find out that a cole slaw is on the sandwich and then learn about what’s in the cole slaw instead of worrying about how chicken fries. That said, Jeff comes off as the better of the two “experts” in terms of food and this week’s episode had by far the most bits produced with Jeff’s puppet characters that even featured some fun “fourth wall” breaks that you may not see coming.

In any event, I think I’d enjoy a show where it’s Jeff teaming up with a real chef/cook to take on a kitchen, and maybe spotlight food that isn’t sandwiches. I mean, Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives does enough sandwiches, I think this show could go in a different direction and maybe spice shit up a bit.
