FX working with Sean Combs on a ‘Bright’ new animated series

Diddy - Dirty Money - Portrait Session

When it’s announced that FX has a new animated series in development, for the most part they make it to air. Bigfoot being the one that comes to mind as one that we haven’t seen a sign of yet, but for the most part there has been a revolving door of failed efforts to find a companion animated series for their hit series Archer which just wrapped its sixth season last night.

In what looks to be FX”s answer to South Park, FX and Sean Combs have teamed up in developing a new series called Brightmoor which follows a group of kids that go to an elementary school based in inner city Detroit. The show is created and written by King Of The Hill alum Chip Hall and rising Detroit comedian Chris Powell aka Comedian CP, however it’s unclear if Floyd County Productions (Archer, Chozen, Unsupervised) is producing as of yet which is usually the case for animated shows on FX.

In any case, the series sounds like it has promise though it has some comparisons to Unsupervised. Granted, Brightmoor has Elementary school students, both shows featured kids in an under-served community going to school, however maybe if a fresh producer is behind the aesthetic of the series, the experience might be different altogether.

You guys want this? Sound off…
