Disney+ Announces Update On Correcting Aspect Ratio For “The Simpsons”
One of the negatives about the launch of Disney+ was regarding the non-HD episodes of The Simpsons and it’s terrible presentation of classic episodes of The Simpsons not being shown in it’s correct 4:3 aspect and instead displayed in a 16:9 widescreen or stretched formats thereby cutting off loads of background gags from the show’s past. FXX’s “Simpsons World” did the same thing and now it looks like this is going to be fixed sooner, rather than later.
Disney+ has announced that they are expected an end of May 2020 fix that will see the first 19 seasons (and some episodes from the show’s 20th season) with the option of using the original 4:3 aspect ratio. Their hilarious press release notes that if you want to switch back to the 16:9 widescreen version, you can, but clearly not understanding that no one on Planet fucking Earth will do that.
New episodes of The Simpsons return on April 19th @ 8 pm ET/PT, check your local listings.
Hi Ashley, thank you so much for reading and we love the feedback. Note that on that day we had 14th posts go up and only ten posts show on the front page, so it's possible the preview had already been archived by the time you got to it. One recommendation would be to add our RSS feed to your favorite news aggregator service like Feedly, this way you get all of the latest posts!
