So, a bunch of you read Rich’s review of Majestic Loincloth and yes he was very harsh. That said, there are a somethings you should know about Rich, most importantly that as much as I love the guy, he really isn’t a HUGE metal fan. Rich fancies himself mostly on pop-punk type stuff so when you read said review of the new animated series coming from former Death drummer and now current Howard Stern personality Richard Christy, keep that in mind.

That said, I thought it’d be privy to offer up a review from a heavy metal fan’s perspective. That’s right, in the last 12 months I’ve seen bands like Napalm Death, Skeletonwitch, Megadeth, and others. I’ve purchased records from bands like Hatebreed, Soilwork, Gojira, and Cult of Luna just in the last 45 days.  I’m seeing Coal Chamber later this month, and have calendar reminders over the next five months to see some of my favorite metal bands whilst on tour.

Similar to Metalocalypse in spirit, but totally on a different plane, Majestic Loincloth features animation from Titmouse featuring a world filled with demons, axes, and a half-naked Richard duking it out with songs and veil threats none too dissimilar to Tenacious D: Pick of Destiny. I actually love the look of the show because it hearkens back to the Di0-era Black Sabbath days or the current Iron Maiden days where dragon fights would ensue or Eddie would pop up to the crowd’s delight. That along with a pretty hysterically written soundtrack with Jason Suecof on producing duties (yes the same Jason Suecof working on the new DEICIDE record) puts this one in the winner’s circle for me.

In short, folks. If you are a pretty die-hard metal fan, and/or love the humor in lyrics that comes from a Metalocalypse or Tenacious D, then this is for you. But, if you aren’t a fan of the heavy metal lifestyle, you might miss the point.
