Season Three Review: Bob’s Burgers
Spoilers Below
Bob’s Burgers didn’t score as high for season three as it did for season two but its still the best show on Animation Domination. The show is smart, funny, and cleverly written to the point where it makes me angry. Popularity and awareness has soared as Bob characters have shown up in big time shows like Family Guy and there was even a cross-over episode with Archer. It has helped solidify Kristen Schaal as a voice-over goddess, and has given us a character that screams hipster all over in the name of ‘Tina’ but with a dorky twist. The guest stars were outrageous this season featuring the returns of Nick Offerman, Megan Mullally, and Aziz Ansari all to resounding success, and then introduced Ben Schwartz and Zach Galifianakis with characters that we can all hope will be in future episodes to come.
The show is at its strongest when the family does an ‘Us versus the World’ type mantra that sees the crew get into it with game show hosts, health inspectors, and past love interests. Yes, Tina, used sparingly, usually offers up hysterically written dialogue most of which is sexually charged. Louise acts as more of a Bart-type character more so than the others but is probably less abrasive in the dialogue. Gene is well, Gene. And Bob and Linda usually act as an item but again their best stuff is when they are both mad at someone or something and they have to save the day.
One of the show’s biggest strengths is also one of its biggest weaknesses and that is Tina. Yes, I think she is a great character, but sometimes I just got plain sick of her. There were at LEAST a few weeks in a row where Tina was the focal point of one plot be it for an entire episode or with a split with someone else and while this was adorable at first, her whining sure did get the best of me on more than a few occasions and as a result I had to lower the volume. The sign on the front of the door says BOB’s Burgers rather than TINA’s Burgers. Also, a lot if not all of the plots, took place outside of the restaurant. Bob’s Burgers was originally conceived as a workplace comedy, but as time as went on we are spending less and less time in the burger joint and more so elsewhere. I love it when the episode starts off with a food truck, or if a new ice cream machine arrives, or if Bob is trying to increase customer footprints. Going with the more marriage type story lines I felt made the show act like more of what we already get plenty of on Sunday Nights, family-centric comedy. The work place certainly gives this show an X-factor and as such think it should be utilized more.
Yea, this is the best show on Animation Domination and its doing all of the right things. As long as the show doesn’t sway too far away from its tried and true lineage this will continue to be a mainstay for FOX for a million or so years.

"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
