Posted on by

The adult animation space is expanding its roster with fresh talent. Actresses Riley Voelkel and Shiva Negar have officially signed on to lead the voice cast for Above Average, an upcoming adult animated comedy series currently in late-stage development.

What is Above Average?

Created by Andrew Deutsch and Cailin Walker-Bent of Canadian animation collective Red Pants Productions, in collaboration with Josh Harris of the UK’s JVH Media, the project zeroes in on flawed superheroes, modern celebrity culture, and the absurdities of fame.

With character designs and animatics already finalized, the project is positioning itself for its next major steps toward full production.

Behind the Cast and Creative Team

  • Riley Voelkel is widely recognized for her standout television roles, including The Originals, Legacies, and Hightown.

  • Shiva Negar brings her dynamic screen presence—known from projects like American Assassin and The Cleaning Lady—into the voice acting realm.

The international partnership between Red Pants Productions and JVH Media aims to combine sharp comedic writing with distinct visual style, targeting mature animation fans who enjoy cynical humor and satirical character-driven storytelling. Further casting and network or platform details are expected to be announced as the series advances through development.
